I've only had this a few days, and I'm pretty happy with the unit as it is. For the most part, it's like having an android tablet as your radio. The launcher is based on the launcher3 launcher and appears exactly as shown in the pictures; the FM Radio, Clock and Music bits shown in the main pictures are widgets and there's a 4th on the next swipe. After that are icons representing all the default apps on the unit. To uninstall it's a matter of tap and holding the icon and dragging it to the bottom. In this regard because there is a lip around the screen of about an inch, it can get touchy about dragging the icons on the bottom. Since it has the Google Play store on it, you can opt to download different launchers to use, like AGAMA or CarWebGuru). The screen is 1200x600 and is capacitative (like a modern phone/tablet) and is pretty responsive. No complaints about performance as of yet. It seems to be bright enough to handle usage during the day, a complaint I had about my last stereo, a Pioneer MVH-X690BS. Volume/Power seems sufficient, though I haven't tuned the EQ to my liking yet. It is 45w x4 vs 50w of my previous stereo. How much of a noticeable difference that is, I will have to use longer term to comment. For my 2008 Rabbit, I have added a backup camera that basically replaces one of the license plate lights (has a LED light too). I was able to wire up the camera by using the red wire with the red plug and attaching it to the red wire with the yellow plug on the bumper end. Then at the head unit I initially used the green RCA input for the RCAM and the associated wire for it. Then I was able to put the car into reverse to see the camera. I changed it up a little bit so I could pop into the rear camera whenever by moving the red wire from the rear camera power wire to the acc+ red power wire, and then used a female RCA to 2x male RCA splitter and also put it in the FCAM plug. Then I'm able to use it both as the normal rear camera or use the FCAM app to activate the front camera. I have not figured out yet how to get something to record from the rear camera yet, which is my end goal. I might try some sort of RCA to USB adapter to try that, but it's not a high priority..I also purchased the 1080p USB camera from Xtrons (ASIN: B07MBYCG4C), and it is pretty much plug and play; after plugging it in, you use the file explorer app to install the associated recorder app for it and will start recording as soon as you pop a microsd card in the camera. I think you can use the DVR app or the Camera app to view the recordings, and can choose between 1, 3, or 5 minute recording intervals. It comes with an external WIFI antenna with 3M-like tape on it, and a GPS antenna that curiously does not. With both anternnas plugged in, reception from their corresponding functions is pretty good. There are also 3 USB extension cords that can be plugged into the unit, though I can only use 2 since I have the 1080p dashcam unless I use the 3rd as a extension of an extension. I'm not sure what I'd use this functionality yet, though it seems like there might be a mirroring functionality app on the headunit that uses the USB cables. As far as the install of the radio itself goes, it's 1:1 the OEM radio for MK5 and maybe MK6 Rabbits (Golf)/GTI/R32. You do not need a dash kit or wiring harness for this unit. I did buy a FAKRA splitter so I could plug both plugs into the radio, though I think I could have gotten away with one of them. The included microphone was a stubby one that had no sort of mount, and used the block plug like all the other bits do; I had hoped I could have reused my microphone from the previous radio with the mini jack on it, but alas, no. It had a clip that the ball joint on the microphone used, so I shaved that off and superglued it to the new microphone so I could clip it back up on my A-pillar like before.Aside from my self-inflicted extra steps of pulling wires through the front dash (taking out the glove box and pulling off the trim below the steering wheel, the fun part will be being able to choose how the radio looks and operates. Would totally do again if I had the choice.Next is the swap from a plain SW to a GTI multi-function SW so I can use steering wheel controls :)
